Peter T. Nicholl

Peter Nicholl is a founding partner of the firm. He began his legal career in 1979 as an attorney in Baltimore for a large plaintiffs’ personal injury law firm. Mr. Nicholl stayed at that firm for 16 years, achieving senior partner status. In 1995, he left that firm to establish The Law Offices of Peter T. Nicholl.

Mr. Nicholl graduated from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, in 1972. He received his legal education at the University of Baltimore School of Law, earning his law degree in 1977.

While the vast majority of our clients’ cases settle out of court for just and desirable amounts, a small percentage may require a trial in order to obtain full compensation.

Most of the time Mr. Nicholl spends in the courtroom pertains to asbestos cases involving clients who had mesothelioma, lung cancer and other asbestos-related diseases. Mr. Nicholl has also tried other complex cases involving radiation exposure, defective consumer products, dangerous industrial machines, unsafe working conditions, and medical mistakes by doctors and hospitals.

Mr. Nicholl possesses an AV Rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. An AV rating recognizes that Mr. Nicholl practices law with the highest levels of skill and professional excellence.

He is one of only a handful of lawyers (less than 30) in the entire country who are members of the Leader’s Forum of the American Association for Justice, formerly known as the American Trial Lawyers Association.

Additionally, Mr. Nicholl is recognized as a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters Corporation. He is included in the National Trial Lawyers top 100 Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Nicholl has represented thousands of Maryland citizens who have suffered injuries as a result of the harmful actions of others. He and his firm have tried or settled cases for a total of over $2 billion dollars in client recoveries. The companies paying the recoveries include asbestos manufacturers, hospitals, doctors, chemical companies, railroads, insurance companies, energy companies and the federal government. Many of these companies are among the largest in the country and/or the world.

While a student in college, Mr. Nicholl came to appreciate the value of community service. Lessons learned then have stayed with him. Consequently, each year Mr. Nicholl or the firm donate a significant portion of income to local and national charities. Tens of millions of dollars have been donated since the firm was started.
